Visual acuity

I remember reading in Jurassic Park a note that kids have such better visual acuity than we remember as adults. They're able to spot small details from further out. When I was flying up from NC back into Boston, a 5yo asked his mom if that was the Statue of Liberty holding up a red light. I could barely make out the light. It was at least 30s more before I could confirm it was indeed the statue on Ellis Island.
