A Steller's jay

In the same genus as the blue jay. We called it a black jay until a park ranger told us the name. They're related to crows and are very smart. This one was going through our camp looking for scraps. We had cleaned everything up.

They're supposed to be able memorize hundreds of food source locations. This is a problem because they can prey on murrelet chicks, which are endangered.
