9/11: California looming

Only 52mi today. I put my phone in lots of baking soda and carefully cleaned it out. After a few rounds of that, it seemed to have stop draining. Still, not many pics.

One of the beach towns we went through honored 9/11 by planting US flags along 101.

[1 year anniversary note:

Matt had some Aruba vacation to coordinate, so he spent some time at the local library, which was close to town, but devastatingly uphill. After waiting forever outside the library, Gabe and I took bets on whether he would crack and start browsing the web to catch up on things.

I tried my best to upload my GPS recordings, but either the GPS was still wet and not quite working through the port or the library machine was locked down.

There were some weirdos in there, I tell you what. Someone had saved a page on my machine called FINE BLONDE.html. That is what you do on public library computers.]

We pulled into pretty much the last coastal camp in Oregon, Harris Beach. We were pretty tired, so we wouldn't have wanted to push into Cali tonight. [At the front gate of the camp, I stumbled when I tried to step off on the curbside instead of onto the road. Matt and Gabe counted it as a fall. It'd be my only one for the tour.]

California's budget crisis means that its camps are likely not as good as Oregon's. Another reason to stay on this side of the border. Tomorrow, we will definitely cross the border into Cali. I'm very excited. Out route maps have listed Crescent City as the destination since we started. Soon, the maps will point to San Francisco. And that means we're closing in.

Gabe picked up the third flat tire just outside of camp. I noticed his tire was a little flat as we waited to sign into camp.
