A good meal

Rest days mean exploring the city. They also mean trying to find something special to eat. In Eureka, we had some mildly good sushi the first night. The second night, we found a highly rated place on Yelp -- Brick and Fire Bistro. It was a 30 min walk away, so quite an investment of our time. I also couldn't get an early reservation, so it'd eat into our beauty rest.

Still, we went for it, passing up numerous possibly great eateries along the way. When we got to the place, it was tucked into the middle of a residential area. The decor was nice.

I was excited by the menu, which featured skate wing as an entree. We got:
- a couple of roasted Kumamoto oysters topped with beurre blanc
- grilled squid stuffed with shrimp with chives, in what I thought was a sauce with sundried tomatoes
- a mushroom cobbler, with a crust on top
- for my entree, skate wing on a bed of rice and hazel nuts
- it Gabe's, bbq pork shoulder on brioche
- Matt got some veggie pizza
Needless to say, it was a very sophisticated menu. It delivered in full. I was happy with every dish. As I tucked into my entree, I was sure this place was top 20 of places I'd ever eaten. I'm still thinking about whether I can put it in top 15.

I only have this pic of the oysters:
